LABOUR WELFARE FUND

A Labour Welfare Fund (LWF) is a statutory fund managed by state governments in India, where both employers and employees contribute to improve the living and working conditions of laborers by providing benefits like medical care, housing, education, nutritious food, and recreational facilities to eligible workers and their dependents; the contribution rates and deduction cycle vary depending on the state regulations.  

  • Purpose:

To enhance the social security and standard of living for workers by providing essential welfare services. 

  • Contribution:

Both employers and employees contribute a specific percentage of their salaries to the LWF. 

  • Management:

Each state government manages its own LWF through a dedicated Labour Welfare Board. 

  • Benefits:

May include medical facilities, housing assistance, educational support, recreational activities, transport facilities, and more.
